The Unique Indonesia Cuisine Going Worldwide



There are numerous Indonesian unique delicacies and cuisines that have gone worldwide and own their own historical values, making international tourist particularly long for them. The following are typical Indonesian cuisines having gone worldwide :


  • Rendang : Rendang is a dish made of meat ( commonly cow meat ), a typical Minangkabau cuisine. Rendang has unique smell and taste, it's smells delicious and tastes savory and a little bit spicy. Rendang is in top of the list of 50 most delicious food of CNN version in 2011, hence it's the pride of the nation.
  • Nasi Goreng ( Fried Rice ) : It is ad infinitum proposed as Indonesian national food, getting more popular since the US first person favored this dish. It is true, only few dishes is nominated as national food, it is lucky that nasi goreng earns the title, since nasi goreng is indeed the food for all, crossing the limit of social classes. It can be enjoyed on simple roadside stalls, vending carts to classy restaurants and the buffet table at a party. Nasi goreng, both in Indonesia and overseas, has numerous varieties, depending on the region of origin and the spices or ingredients used.
  • Sate : Sate or something called Satay or Satai is a dish made of meats ( chicken, lamb, mutton, beef, pork, fish, etc ), sliced smalls and skewered by a stick usually made of bamboo. It is usually roasted on wood or coconut shell charcoal. Nevertheless since it becomes famous and wander to other countries, the process of cooking sate become easier by using oven or roasted on plates like a barbeque. Two types of sauce commonly used are : thick dark soy sauce and thick peanut sauce. The variety of sate sauce is created not out of international chefs creation but commonly housewife's with profuse creative ideas.
  • Bakso ( meatball ) : Bakso is the most common meatball in Indonesian cuisines different from the overseas version of meatball. It is usually made of a mixture of ground beef and tapioca flour, yet there are also bakso made of chicken, fish or shrimp. The presentation of Bakso is unique mixed with tofu, noodle or vermicelli, bean sprouts and mustard greens also sprinkled with fried shallots and celery. The getting popular bakso made it easily found in a frozen form, ready to use. In Indonesia the cities known as centers of bakso are Solo and Malang, hence called bakso solo and bakso malang.
  • Soto : Soto is one of most popular cuisines in Indonesia. Each region must have its own type of soto, such as soto madura, soto sulung, soto betawi, soto kudus, soto kudus, soto bandung, soto pekalongan, soto padang, soto makassar and so on. Soto usually consist of slices of beef, buffalo meet, chicken and sometimes their intestines. The delicacy of soto made Telemadrid television in Spain interested in directly broadcasting the whole lot about soto in a special program named Buenos das Madrid.
  • Gado-gado : The tutorial videos on different versions of how to make gado-gado have been frequently downloaded in youtube both by international chefs and common people, proving that gado-gado is loved by overseas tongues. As thick peanut sauced salad of Indonesian version, gado-gado was once a champion in an international food festival. Gado-gado is commonly served with carbohydrate of lontong ( rice cooked in banana leaves wrap ) or rice. The ingredients of gado-gado vary depending on the components available locally, that is why there are different creations of gado-gado.
