Welcome To Indonesia



Indonesia is the largest archipelago and fourth most populous country in the world, consist of five main island such as Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua, covering 33 province. Has about 13.466 island, but only about 6.000 inhabited islands. This archipelago stretches 5.150 kilometers between mainland Australia to Asia and the Pasific Ocean and India split at the equator. Indonesia's name comes from two greek word " Indo ", meaning indian and " Nesos " meaning island. So Indonesia is an archipelagic nation with a capital of Jakarta as the center of government.


Cimate

Indonesia has a tropical climate, only two seasons of the year, summer and rainy. East monsoon from june to september brings dry weather while the rainy season from december to march. Transition seasons sometimes brings the rain, but in the middle of the rainy seasons temperature range from 21 celcius to 33 celcius except at the higher altitudes the weather much colder. Fall season of heavy rain was recorded in december until february. Humidity between 60 - 100 %.

Dialect and Language

More than 483 language and dialects spoken in the archipelago. Included in 350 different ethnic groups. Indonesian is the national language, written in Roman script and based on European orthography. In each area a tourist destination, English is the number one foreign language is often spoken and written. While on a specific destination in Arabic and Chinese are frequently used.

National Parks

As an archipelago country, mosf of Indonesia is a warm ocean in which there is a wide range of beautiful life. Biodiversity in the mainland, Wallacea region contains 28.000 of plants, rare orchid Raflesia small to giant flowers, 3.500 species of rare animals including orangutans in Sumatra and Kalimantan, there is unique giant lizards on komodo island, horned javan rhinoceros and the las tiger of Sumatra. All property is protected by the government in some areas in the park.

Cuisine

Staple food of most of Indonesia is Rice but few island is eastern Indonesia, staple food traditionally has ranged from corn,sago,cassava, or sweet potato.Fish are used as complementary foods, prepared as a paste of fresh, salted, dried, smoked or fried. Coconut is found everywhere and in additon produced for cooking oil, coconut milk as well as food flavoring. Spices and spicy chily seasoning is major in some areas such as West Sumatra, North Sulawesi. Each province or region has its own distinctive cuisine is more than one.

Material is processed into many foods are vegetables, soy, beef, chicken and fish. Residents of West Sumatra generally eat more beef compared to other areas, such as cooking " Rendang " which has worldwide. Padang restaurant can be found everywhere. In addition to having characteristic with spicy foods, known for this unique style of service.

In Bali, Papua and highland of north Sumatra and north Sulawesi pork dishes are easy to find. Pork is also served at chinese restaurant or non - muslim areas. A wide range of tropical fruits and vegetables sub-tropical and there throughtout the year. Coffee and tea are very abundant and some regions produce typical local drinks.

Among them, Bali produces "Brem" which is a rice wine, Toraja and north Sumatra has a "Tuak" and many other areas that have a typical drinks. Some Indonesian food is the most common "Sate" ( Grilled meat ), "Gado-gado" ( Mixed vegetables with peanut sauce ), Fried Rice ( can be served at any time ), "Soto" ( Cooking Soup ) and Fried noodles and boiled.

Travel Formalities

All the tourist who want to visit Indonesia must have a pasport valid for at least 6 month from the date of arrival and have a proof turnaround ticket to the country of origin. Immigration authorities provides free tourist visas for period of 30 days to citizens of 12 country ( Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Filiphina, Hongkong, Macau, Chile, Marocco, Peru, Vietnam and Equador )
